Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) - Serious organised crime has an increasingly international dimension and criminals involved in such activities as human trafficking and the drugs trade are able to operate across borders. The EU has an important role to play in combating organised crime and the Scottish government is actively involved in the UK's opting in to certain initiatives. The battle against crime must, however, be proportionate and I believe this report finds a correct balance.
