Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) − I voted against an increase in the EU's budget albeit it represents a real terms freeze. Across the EU workers providing vital public services are enduring not just real terms freezes but actual pay freezes and, in some cases, actual pay cuts. The public sector is having to find massive savings in order to function. The EU simply cannot stand aloof from this reality and demand ever increasing sums of money.
